A recent modelling project I've worked on. Creating 14 high resolution models from photo reference, and some my own design. Modelled in 3dsMax and Maya. The most complex models were the trains, and the robot heads. The robots had to look like the era they depicted, but they couldn't look exactly like anything else for copyright reasons. Some of curves on the bullet train really tested my subdiv skills. Overall it was fun to get back to modelling for a bit, but I'm not sure I could do it for ever.

Making a Dynamic Tree

Here's a little movie I chucked together from screen captures during a recent project. Maybe I'll do a walk though one day on how it's actually done.
The tree model is from Evermotion. The rig was built in Softimage XSI, using ICE, strands. Syflex, and various compounds built specially for the task.
Once simulated, the tree was cached and exported to Maya. Rendering done in Vray, which made light work of the huge poly counts.

Here's a little movie showing the VFX of smashing the Piano for Film4 new set of idents competed at Analog.
I found a whole bunch of playblasts from all the hundreds of sim's, so i decided to put them together in a little montage.
The piano is modelled in 3dsMax by me, and sim'd by me using DMM in Maya. Renders and lighting were done by Simon Reeves, and comp by Fabio Zaveti. Direction by MvM

The first major project of the new year. Well, the first to finish atleast. On this spot I animated the car's and the jet in Maya. Although they were not on the screen for very long, they needed to be shown off in the best way. There was some pretty tight art direction to follow.
I also brought Alembic versions into 3dsMax to add particle dust and chunks. Using Pflow and the new mParticles I setup a quick system that was used for all the cars.
